A Tradition...

It's tradition that we make gingerbread houses.
This year the cousins and Grandma joined us!

What are your special traditions at this time of the year?

Nick...

Steve, Katy and I went to visit Nick this weekend. I should have taken more pictures, but with Nick it's not always that welcomed. ;) Although, I think he was more receptive this weekend... oh well, too late now! It's hard to believe but it's Nick's senior year!!! He'll be graduating in May. Oh crap, I miss my little kids. Last night I dreamed that I "got" a baby. It was an odd dream (as dreams usually are). Anyway... not a really long stay, but a nice time to hang out with him and his friends. And to go to church with him. And to have he and his roommates serve us a delicious dinner and crowd 8 people around the dinner table. And to spend some time w/ his friend Theresa. Nick is a happy guy these days...

I have a question...

Does anyone use shoe polish these days? When I was a kid, it seemed like my dad was always polishing someone's shoes.

Another wonderful Monday...

Monday may very well be my favorite day of the week. My day off. :) Time to myself. Okay, I'm supposed to clean the house and do office work for our personal business. But still...

A fun weekend. My nephew's first birthday and then a visit w/ Becky (we've been friends since first grade when she moved just up the hill from us)!! I should have taken a picture at her house, but didn't! We don't see each other very often, but now that she's back in PA, maybe we'll get together from time to time.

My new job is going well. It's so strange not coming home exhausted by people. I came to really love the homeless people, but gosh they exhausted me - mentally. And the extra hour plus I get to spend w/ Katy on our commute is nice. She's a fun kid!

Things take time...

It's slow coming, but I'm making good progress on my cross stitch. Things take time. :)

Everyone asks me how my new job is going. It's hard to say after one week, all things take time. I miss everyone at my old job. Yes, even the homeless people... you don't spend time everyday with people and not miss them! They have become my friends. But, I need the break. It gets wearisome hanging out with people who don't relate to life like I relate to life.

It seems like everyone at my new job is really nice. But they are still strangers. In time we'll be good friends, I can tell. For now, it's a bit lonely. Time. Yup, time.

Ask me in a few more months, okay!?!

For now, I have so much to catch up on around the house. I can't believe how out of sorts everything is around here from my lack of energy having worked full-time these past 10 months. Mondays will be my day off, so tomorrow I'll get to it! :)

Back home where I belong...

What a beautiful day! I think we're about a day past prime, but it was such a nice drive home from church today.

It was July 1990. I quit my full-time job at IBM when Anna was about to be born. I specifically remember telling Steve - "I will never work full-time again." I knew then what I confirmed now... I do NOT like working full-time!! My heart is at home and I like it there. There is no way I can adequately take care of my family while putting all those hours of effort into something else. Welcome home Sharon!!!

Last first day of school...

It's a pretty amazing moment... our family has come to our "last" first day of school! I have been taking pictures of Nick, Anna, and Katy on the first day of school since Nick started kindergarten in 1993! (I'm going to make a mini scrapbook of them! Unfortunately, there's one year I can't find the pictures. Maybe lost the film? Remember those days when we used film?)

Katy's Senior year of high school. I understand that it's written like this ---> SEN10RS! cute, huh? ;) Class of 2010.

As for me, I've been working on this ever since I finished up Ida Mae:
